About
Matt Sontag spent more than three decades working on Unlimited hydroplanes before deciding to take the next step and become a driver himself. The Madison, Indiana racer is a current crew member with U-1 BWR Racing and has quickly built his own resume in Hydro Lite competition. Sontag earned APBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2025 and followed it with the 2026 Eastern Divisional Championship. Competitive in nearly everything he does, he waited until his 50s to begin driving and has made that late start part of his message to fans: it is never too late to get involved in racing.
